The Office of Financial Assistance Services (OFAS) is one of the most important resources in the life of a University of Miami student. The OFAS staff is available to assist students and families throughout the entire financial aid process each year. Merit-based and need-based aid is available to eligible applicants through University, federal, state, and external sources.

Students who want to be considered for financial assistance must apply and be accepted to the University, and they must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the appropriate year. A FAFSA application must be filed every academic year you plan to attend. The FAFSA is available every January 1st. The preferred filing deadline is February 1st for continuing students.

The Office of Financial Assistance uses the University-assigned e-mail address
as its method of communicating with students.  Students should regularly check their University e-mail and the myUM website regularly for updates regarding pending requirements as well as financial aid award updates.

While you are on campus, please feel free to stop by the office, located in the Rhodes House (Building 37-R), at the intersection of Merrick and Dickinson drives. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Complete information about the entire financial aid process on our web site.
