Domestic students enrolled in six or more credit hours per semester (or considered full time) are required to obtain adequate health insurance. The annual premium for the University sponsored student insurance plan is added to each student’s fees. Domestic students with adequate alternative coverage may request cancellation of the insurance fee via myUM.
Deadlines to waive the insurance are: July 25-Fall, January 25-Spring, April 25-Summer I and June 25-Summer II. Waivers will not be accepted after the established deadlines. Students enrolled in the University sponsored health insurance plan will be charged a $50.00 per semester surcharge if they are smokers. Students will be asked to indicate their smoking status on myUM and students who confirm that they are smokers or fail to indicate their smoking status will be charged the $50.00 surcharge.
Insurance cancellation requests must be renewed each academic year via myUM.
All international students are required to enroll in the University-sponsored health insurance program. The annual premium for this coverage is added to each student’s fees. Questions can be emailed to us.
