Dear Families of Undergraduate Students:

In an effort to keep parents and family members of undergraduate students better informed about the latest news on campus, we have created this parent e-newsletter for you.

Parents of our newest ‘Canes received a special edition of our parent e-newsletter last month. Beginning with this issue, the parent e-newsletter will be sent on a monthly basis to all parents of undergraduate students throughout the academic year. It is our hope that the newsletter will provide you with valuable information about academic schools/colleges, services available to your student, upcoming events, and selected UM news.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us. Call Dr. Green at 305-284-2006 or Dr. Whitely at 305-284-4922. We hope to welcome you back to campus again soon, perhaps for Family Weekend 2009!

Sincerely,

Bill Greensig

Office of Academic Enhancement Programs and Services

Posted in

The Office of Academic Enhancement (OAE) promotes a diverse academic experience for all undergraduate students by providing programs and opportunities that meet the academic and supportive needs of the general population. An increased emphasis is placed on assisting those groups who have been historically underrepresented in higher education by developing effective retention efforts that address these students' unique academic and supportive needs. The OAE addresses the unique demands of the academic careers of highly talented undergraduate students, particularly in relation to their applications for national fellowship programs and graduate and/or professional degrees.

Avoiding Roommate Conflicts

Posted in

Among the many challenges a student may face while in college, living with another person may be one of them. It is important for roommates to discuss their expectations for their living arrangements early. By setting boundaries in the beginning of the year, it is less likely for smaller things will become bigger issues as the year goes on.
