Fraternity and Sorority Life

Posted in

Missouri State currently has 13 national fraternities, 6 national sororities, 2 local sororities, and 6 NPC fraternities registered on campus. Each of the organizations has its own unique programs and characteristics, yet all are founded on generally the same principles:  community involvement, academic excellence, and leadership.

The figures below highlight just a few of the accomplishments of the Greek community at Missouri State:

  • Fraternity and sorority organizations have contributed over 20,000 hours of their time to the surrounding community and have donated $30,000 to local charities in the past year.
  • Fraternity and sorority members’ average GPA consistency exceeds that of the all campus average GPA.
  • Fraternity and sorority life at Missouri State has produced more campus leaders than any other organization on campus.
  • Being in a fraternity or sorority at Missouri State offers a great opportunity for involvement and success of your student.

We encourage all parents and students to explore the benefits of joining our Greek community. Please visit the parents’ section on their website for additional facts and information.

Statement on Hazing

Both Missouri State University and fraternity and sorority community do not condone or tolerate hazing.  Hazing is defined as any action taken or situation created, whether on or off fraternity/sorority property, to produce mental or physical discomfort or ridicule. Sanctions and disciplinary actions will be taken against those who haze and, in some cases, those who allow hazing to continue unchallenged.

Please see our policy on hazing in Article 4.5 of the Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities.
