Things Students Might Need in a Residence Hall
Personal Items
- Twin Bed Linens (80 inches x 36 inches)
- Bath Towels
- Bathrobe or wrap
- Toiletry tote and toiletries
- Flip Flops (for the shower)
- Toilet paper (for suites and apartments)
- Trash can and trash bags
- Laundry bag/basket
- Laundry detergent and fabric softner
- Eating utensils (plates, glasses, bowls, silverware)
- Cooking utensils (pots, pans, etc; for the Community Kitchen)
- Dish soap and other cleaning supplies (broom, dust pan, mop, etc.)
- Sewing Kit
- First Aid Kit
- Alarm Clock
- Umbrella
- Backpack
- Desk or floor lamp (no Halogen lamps)
- Flashlight
- Pictures and/or Posters (may only be hung with poster putty, painters tape, or 3M command strips)
- Computer (network cable and hub)
- Free standing shelves
Items that can or need to be shared by roommates:
- Television and coaxial cable
- VCR/DVD Player
- Telephone and cord
- Microwave (not to exceed 700 watts; one per room/suite)
- Refrigerator (not to exceed 4.5 cubic feet; one per room/suite)
- Stereo
- Extension cords (UL approved) and surge protector
What not to bring:
- Halogen lamps
- Candles, incense, or oil lamps
- Space heaters
- Appliances with an open heating element (such as toasters, hotplates, etc.; George Forman Grills are permitted)
- Fireworks, explosives, flammable liquids (such as gasoline, propane, or starter fluid)
- Firearms and other weapons
- Pets (except fish, 10 gallon tank max)
- Duct Tape
- Bed lofts
