MTSU is on the Move!

Student Union Building

If one were to name all the amenities that will be housed in the new $77 million Student Union, it might save on paper to list what won’t be included in the one-stop, full-service 197,00-square-foot facility. The first floor of the building will house a 640-seat dining facility and another 102-seat casual-dining area, as well as a game room, bookstore, ATM area, retail outlets, including a copy center, lounges and e-mail check stations. The second floor will feature seven meeting rooms of various sizes, seminar rooms, a 95-seat video theater and an 84-seat parliamentary room with a built-in voting system.

A formal dining area with kitchen support will support an 840-seat ballroom. A collaborative computer center will enhance both in-person and e-communication. Student activities and governance will comprise much of the third-floor space.

College of Education Building

If everything goes as scheduled, the 993 classroom seats and 87 faculty offices in the new College of Education Building will be filled with eager students, faculty and staff beginning in the spring semester of 2012. Some will make a beeline for a collaborative classroom or the wet lab, while others will find a comfy seat in the 150-seat auditorium, the seminar room or the observation lab. The new building with its more than 87,300 gross square feet will provide a facility for one of the largest colleges at MTSU.
