Bernard B. Rinella, Jr. Learning Center is the Nation’s Best

Posted in

Miami University’s Bernard B. Rinella, Jr. Learning Center has earned the 2009 National College Learning Center Association’s (NCLCA) Frank L. Christ Outstanding Learning Center Award. Linda J. Dixon, associate dean for student retention and learning services at Miami, received the award at the NCLCA annual conference Oct. 1–2, 2009, in Golden, Colorado.

Each year, the Frank L. Christ Outstanding Learning Center Award recognizes two exceptional learning centers across the country:  one two-year college and one four-year college or university. The award is intended to give national recognition to the work done by learning centers and to foster their future growth and development.

According to Travis Ramage, NCLCA’s professional development officer, “The award recognizes the Rinella Learning Center for its numerous achievements in the delivery of learning support services and programs to the students of Miami University during the past academic year.”

The Office of Learning Center Services was renamed the Bernard B. Rinella Jr. Learning Center in 2000 to honor the memory of Bernard B. Rinella, Jr., son of Bernard and Gloria Rinella, former Parents Council members, who established Miami’s Learning Center.
