School is just about to start, and we want you to know that Murray will be a second home for your college student!  Known for its friendly nature, beautiful surroundings, and southern charm, Murray provides a welcoming atmosphere for all of our students.

From authentic Thai cuisine to traditional Southern cooking, your student will never go hungry!  Choices of chain restaurants to quaint tearooms satisfy anyone’s cravings. Activities are endless in Murray!  Just minutes from two breath-taking lakes, spanning over 4,000 miles of shoreline, your student can connect with nature at the Land Between the Lakes (LBL) Recreation Area. Protected wildlife, hiking trails, horseback riding, and rustic campgrounds provide an escape from the weekly routine.

Kentucky Lake is known as the “Crappie Capital” of the world, hosting several regional and national tournaments a year.  For a family weekend together, renting a boat and taking ride on our beautiful lakes makes special memories together!

The historic, downtown square in Murray is a hot place to be! Late spring through autumn students will find our Downtown Saturday Market with the local farmers providing fresh produce and baked goods from surrounding areas.  Specialty boutiques and family-owned restaurants are sure to provide entertainment.  For the music lovers, the Regional Special Events Center (RSEC) brings in concerts of all genres. The Lovett Live concert series in Lovett Auditorium brings an eclectic style of music popular with our students.

Ever heard of disc golf?  Here in Murray, this new sport is rapidly growing with our Central Park Disc Golf Course.  Disc golf is similar to traditional golf, but instead, Frisbee-like discs are used.  Students of all skill levels are impressed by the 5,200 feet course located within our parks system.

If disc golf is not your style, Murray offers many other sporting facilities.  The American Society of Golf Architects designated the Frances E. Miller Memorial Golf Course as one of the best designed 18-hole courses in American.

A variety of golfing challenges await with over 50 sand bunkers and scenic water hazards.  Sullivan’s Par 3 Golf and Sports Center features batting cages, 18-hole executive golf course, miniature golf, and a driving range.  Murray hosts numerous tennis tournaments a year, being named a “great American tennis town,” by Tennis Life magazine in January 2008.  Great courts on and off campus are just a racket-length away!

We want you to visit your student and our town often.  Murray is a great second home for your student and a wonderful place for families to reunite.  Welcome to Murray!
