  1. Frame a family photo for your student to pack with him/her.
  2. Discuss finances weekly/monthly – Make sure to let them know about proper usage of credit cards and how to manage the checking account.
  3. Obtain a copy of your student’s class schedule and full contact information so you can call them when they are out of class!
  4. Send an address book to college with your student including mailing addresses and e-mail addresses so they can keep in touch!
  5. Check your insurance plans for coverage of your student’s property.
  6. Pre-plan to send a few care packages throughout the semester.
  7. Be sure your student has medical insurance and an identification card in case he/she needs to use it.
  8. Teach them some lessons in laundry.
  9. Make sure payment arrangements are made for tuition and board or that financial aid is completely covering your student’s balance.
  10. Buy and wear your NCCU Parents or Family T-shirt with pride!
