Students are expected to attend all Week Of Welcome activities from August 12 to 19. Fall 2012 classes begin Monday, August 20.

All first-year students should plan to move into their assigned residence hall room on Saturday, August 11, with the exact time to be announced at a later date. For more details on securing a residence hall room for fall 2012, visit the Res Life Website

A full schedule of WOW activities will be released during summer 2012. WOW highlights will include: Community Service Organization fair - NCCU has a graduation requirement of 120 hours of service in the local community, Eagle Reading Experience Discussion Groups, Class of 2016 photo, "Keeping it Real" Peer Theatre Show, "A Salute to New Eagles" - First-Year Convocation and Eagle Pinning Ceremony.

Each year our new students must attend Lyceum, which are cultural, academic and artistic presentations. These sessions begin during Week of Welcome with past speakers including Adam Shepard and Hydeia Broadbent.

Students will participate in their first class discussions with their fellow residents for the Eagle Reading Experience. This year, students will be assigned a book to read during New Student Orientation. Students are expected to have this book read by the time they arrive on campus for move-in. During Week of Welcome they will participate in several activities surrounding their first college reading experience.

The Of Housing and Residential Life sponsor a movie under the stars each year. Students will be able to view the movie from the comfort of the football stadium with a big screen on the football field!

Keeping it Real is an interactive show presented by NCCU students who will examine issues of alcohol and substance abuse, dating, sex, decision-making, life balance and more in a presentation that blends acting, comedy, music, visuals and audience participation.

Students who attend Keeping it Real will receive their Class of 2016 t-shirt for the official Class Photo. All members of the class will gather on the football field to take the class photo.

A Salute to New Eagles is the capstone to Week of Welcome. Parents, family, faculty, staff, and Alumni are invited to assist us with the pinning portion of the ceremony as students receive their official eagle wings.
