New freshman admissions at North Carolina Central University reveal a significant increase. Admits for July 31, 2009, numbered 3,527 whereas the same figure for last year was 2,188.
Michael Bailey, interim senior associate director of admissions attributes the increase to three factors: the economy, the impact of a new marketing campaign and a fired up admissions staff. "There's a sense of esprit de corps with admissions counseling staff," said Bailey.
