It is never too early to start networking and planning for life after college by engaging in activities (practice interviews, job shadowing, internships) that will lead to employment success.

Going to one of the many career fairs is a good start to a successful career path, as students have the opportunity to network with employers and explore experiences that will broaden their exposure to diverse career options. Please encourage your student to visit the career fair hosted by his/ her college/department.

Additionally, establishing a relationship with the University Career Center during their first year of college helps students develop skills that will increase their employment potential. For additional information, have your student contact the University Career Center via email or phone.

Preparing For Success:

Balance between classroom and co-curricular activities is key to any student's successful transition to NC State. As you talk with your student about getting involved, discuess the importance of time management and establishing priorities. Too much or too little involvement can be problematic.
