Important Dates and Deadlines — Fall 2009

Residency

The last day to submit completed petitions to the Registrar’s Office for resident tuition or residency tuition waivers is September 2, 2009.

Degree Application

Students finishing degree requirements in Fall 2009 must submit applications to the Registrar’s Office or apply online by August 20, 2009. After August 20, 2009, a $25.00 late fee will be assessed.

No Fall 2009 degree applications will be accepted after October 7, 2009.

Student Record Confidentiality Form

Students may request that directory information not be released by filing a request form (from the class schedule) with the Registrar’s Office.

Schedule Changes

1. Drop/add forms with instructions for making schedule changes are available at your dean’s office or advising center.
2. Any schedule changes may affect your financial obligation to the University.
3. The last day to ADD a course or CHANGE a grading option is September 2, 2009.
4. The last day to DROP a course (not recorded on academic record) is September 4, 2009 (except those carrying a designated date). **
5. Students may not drop their last course via the web after August 19, 2009. Official withdrawal procedures must be completed at the Registrar’s Office.
6. The last day to Withdraw from a course (except those carrying a designated date) is October 14, 2009. The grade of “W” will be recorded on the academic record. **

Withdrawing from the University

1. Withdrawing begins at the Registrar’s Office, in the Educational Services Building, (575) 646-3413.
2. The last day to withdraw from all courses is November 13, 2009. **
3. Students who do not officially withdraw from a course or the University may receive failing grades and will be liable for all tuition and fees. Students may be required to repay a portion of Financial Aid received.

** Courses listed in the schedule with designated dates will have different drop or withdrawal dates. Consult your dean’s office or advising center.

Grade Availability

Fall 2009 grades are available at myNMSU after December 19, 2009.

Academic Sanctions

Students placed on academic warning, probation, or suspension during the end of term grading process will be mailed a notification. Students placed on suspension will have pre-registered courses for future semesters cancelled and applicable refunds made by the Business Office.
