Living on campus is one of the most beneficial choices your student will make. Campus living is focused on your students’ success, convenience and value. The experiences gathered through living on campus are an integral part of a college education, and it is a fact that living on campus contributes to academic success and earlier graduation. NMSU provides a variety of affordable housing options designed to meet students’ needs, including traditional residence halls, apartment communities, and family housing.

Our traditional residence halls provide accommodations primarily for first-year students. The double occupancy arrangement, combined with deliberate academic and community-building experiences (such as Living Learning Communities), help new students build relationships and successfully transition from high school to college. Once students achieve sophomore status, they are eligible to live in campus apartment communities that provide single bedrooms with shared living spaces. Upper-level students also have the option of living in a number of the residence halls. Students with families are eligible for a variety of family-based residential options.

Each year, current campus residents can remain in their accommodations or change to different residence halls and apartments. Students must renew their housing agreement in spring to remain on campus the following fall.  Please encourage your student to watch for their renewal opportunity and to respond quickly to reserve his or her desired location.

Utilities, high-speed Internet connections, and cable-TV are included in all of our campus living options. Like any home, sometimes sinks become clogged and light bulbs expire. Students can access assistance with their rooms or apartments through the online work request system on the housing website. We pride ourselves on responding to our students’ needs quickly.
