NMSU provides many opportunities for students to work part-time while attending classes. Employment options include work-study, regular student employment, cooperative education, and internships.

Work-study provides students with employment to help with college costs and can provide valuable work experience. Eligibility for most work-study is determined from the FAFSA. NMSU also contracts with off-campus agencies to employ work-study students 10 to 20 hours a week. Job announcements are posted at the beginning of each semester and are continually updated (Work-Study Postings/).

Regular student employment is designed to assist students in obtaining jobs that help with college costs and provide students with career-related work where possible. Career Services administers these student employment opportunities. Undergraduate applicants must be degree seeking, enrolled in a minimum of twelve graded credit hours fall and spring semesters, and maintain at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average. Graduate students must be degree-seeking, enrolled in a minimum of nine graded graduate credit hours fall and spring semesters, and maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
