New Mexico State University Parent Guide
Important Registration Facts at NMSU
Fall 2011 registration should be completed by making payment arrangements with the Business Office and paying all past due balances by the following deadlines, or reserved classes could be cancelled. See late registration section in class schedule for procedures if classes are cancelled. During late registration, payment is due at the time of registration.
Tuition Payment Options
Your student’s education is an investment that can be challenging for families. NMSU’s Payment Plan allows students to divide fall and spring tuition charges into four monthly payments to make the payments
more manageable. All debt not paid by the last day to register will automatically be placed on a payment plan and be assessed a $20.00 fee (by August 29).
Refund of Tuition and Fees
Refund percentages are based on semester charges, not amount paid. Students officially withdrawing or
dropping courses during the Fall 2011 semester are eligible to receive a refund as follows:
Students who drop at this time can get this portion refunded:
- On or before September 2, 2011: 100%
- September 3 - 18, 2011: 50%
- September 19 - September 30, 2011: 25%
All refunds are applied toward amount owed. The refund schedule above applies when courses are dropped and a tuition adjustment is necessary. For a full explanation of refund policies, visit Accounts Receivable.
Residency
The last day to submit completed petitions to the Registrar’s Office for resident tuition or residency tuition waivers is August 31, 2011.

Students finishing degree requirements in Fall 2011 must submit applications to the Registrar’s Office by August 26, 2011. After August 26, 2011, a $25.00 late fee will be assessed.
No Fall 2011 degree applications will be accepted after September 30, 2011.
