AU Parents' Organization Awards $12,000 in Grants
The Auburn University Parents' Association (AUPA) awarded grants totaling $12,000 on Friday, January 29th. The grants are designed to provide funding to academic or student affairs organizations for programs or events that contribute to the quality of undergraduate student life and learning at Auburn. Any university department or student organization whose program or activity will enhance undergraduate student life and learning at Auburn were eligible to submit an application. This year, eight organizations submitted excellent proposals totaling $56,418.41. While the AUPA would have liked to provide grant assistance to all organizations, the funding had to be limited to 4 grant awards this year

Auburn University Approves a New Civic Engagement Minor for the College of Liberal Arts
After three years of research and consultation with faculty, the Community and Civic Engagement minor was officially approved by the university curriculum committee in November 2009. The 15-hour interdisciplinary minor will consist of courses that provide students context for understanding public issues, skills to become more effective and responsible global citizens, and service learning opportunities to apply theory to practice.
