Ohio University Parent Guide
Ohio University’s WellBeing Plan
What is the WellBeing Plan?
In response to student concerns about campus health care, the WellBeing Plan was created as a student health care option to enhance health and counseling services. It works together with your student’s medical insurance to reduce the costs of health services on campus. Your student is automatically enrolled at the beginning of each quarter and it’s only $40/quarter.
How Does the WellBeing Plan Help My Student?
Student Health Services
The WellBeing Plan eliminates $15 of the co-pay/co-insurance for medical office visits, lab work and x-rays. If your student DOES NOT have the WellBeing Plan, the normal co-pay will be billed for medical office visits, lab work and x-rays to their student account.
Counseling and Psychological Services
A student paying the WellBeing fee is entitled to FREE individual counseling sessions per year (up to 20 sessions) and FREE group counseling. If your student DOES NOT pay the WellBeing fee, $20 will be billed for each individual counseling session (the initial visit is always free), and $50 per quarter for group counseling.
How is the WellBeing Plan Helping ALL Students?
Funds generated from WellBeing are supporting these enhancements to the Student Health and Counseling and Psychological Services Departments:
- Extended hours of service on Monday and Tuesday and NEW Sunday hours
- 24/7 Crisis Intervention Service: Now, a student can call (740) 593-1616 and talk to a counselor any time of the day or night!
- An additional medical provider on staff
- A computerized rapid check-in system
- Additional psychiatrist hours
- Appointments and walk-in service
- An additional psychologist on staff
How Can My Student Get the WellBeing Plan?
They don’t have to do anything! Students are automatically enrolled each quarter. Save on out-of-pocket expenses and take advantage of these new benefits. For more information, please visit Well Being.
