The Center for Student Legal Services

The Center for Student Legal Services is your best friend on campus!

Did you know?

The Center for Student Legal Services is a law office for Ohio University students. We are a non-profit organization that staffs two licensed attorneys who work only for OHIO students. We are chartered by and have the support of the Ohio University Trustees.

The cost is only $8.00 per quarter. Compare that with $150 - $250 an HOUR for a local attorney.

The $8.00 fee is included as an option on your student’s tuition bill every quarter. If you waive the $8.00 fee, you are opting out of the program, so your student will not be eligible to use our services all quarter.

You can’t pay the fee later in the quarter if you waive it. You never know when you might need us!

Think your student will never need an attorney? We are here for a lot more than situations where a student is “in trouble.” We also offer legal education, advice, notary service, mediation service, contract and lease review and many other legal services.

We also give educational talks to many groups on campus. We will represent students in Athens courts for a variety of misdemeanors, including alcohol violations, disorderly conduct, OVI, traffic issues, etc.

When students move off campus, we can help with landlord troubles. We have helped hundreds of students resolve issues with their landlord and receive their wrongfully held security deposits.

We will represent students in court for landlord/tenant matters such as evictions, repairs, breach of lease, etc.
