Funded primarily by student differential tuition fees, the Center for Academic Resources (CAR), provides free tutoring for undergraduate students. Students can receive individual tutoring for most courses on campus.

For students in large, challenging classes, CAR also provides a group tutoring program called Supplemental Instruction (SI). As an alternative to one-on-one tutoring, SI offers students three hours of prepared group review sessions each week of the semester. Students can attend as many SI sessions as they want, including special exam reviews prior to major tests in the course.

Peer Educator Review Sessions (PERS) provide one group tutoring session per week for many classes which do not provide SI.

A third service is English assistance. Students for whom English is a second or non-native language often want to build their English skills, and they can schedule individual appointments with the professional English language tutor in CAR. Together, they can work on general or course-specific vocabulary, pronunciation and oral presentations, English grammar and textbook reading.
