Dear Parents and Families,

As we begin a new academic year, we are extremely pleased and grateful to have your daughters and sons as members of our OU family.  Together, we continue to set a national standard for excellence.

The University of Oklahoma is an extraordinary institution, known for its academic excellence and strong sense of community. The university attracts top students from across the nation and 118 countries around the world.

As a member of the OU community, your son or daughter is a part of the academically highest-ranked student body at a public university in the history of our state.  Your child also is attending one of the top 10 “Best Value Colleges,” as named by The Princeton Review. This recognizes OU as a leader in terms of academic excellence and cost for students.

There are many resources on campus to help your son or daughter toward graduation and enhance their educational experience. This is an online guide to some of the offices on campus that are here solely to help you and your student. I encourage you to take advantage of all of the opportunities and services available at OU. I hope your son and daughter gets involved outside of the classroom, considers one of our study-abroad programs and volunteers for the benefit of others in our community.

Above all, the source of our greatest pride is our students. I want to thank you again for sending your daughters and sons to be part of our OU family. I feel privileged to work with them not only as president, but also as a faculty member for the past 34 semesters. Being able to interact with our students in the classroom gives me a chance to truly sense their values and assess their abilities. It has only deepened my respect and admiration for them.

In partnership with you, we are truly making OU a center of excellence and source of pride for our students and parents.

Sincerely,

David L. Boren
President
