Dear Pacific Parents and Families,

On behalf of the University of the Pacific students, staff, and faculty, I am pleased to welcome you and your student to the 2012-2013 academic year.

We have been looking forward to your arrival now for several months and are excited to introduce you and your student to our Pacific Community.

At Pacific we value parents as partners in the education of our students. Our staff has prepared this Parent Guide to inform you about the many resources and services we offer to ensure that all students are successful in their educational experience. We have made every attempt to identify some of the more commonly asked questions we receive from families and have incorporated the answers into this guide.

I would also like to take a moment to invite you to make plans to come back to campus this fall to attend Parent and Family Weekend. This fun-filled Pacific tradition will be held October 12-14, 2012. The Weekend's activities will feature Tiger athletic competitions and activities, interesting faculty presentations, live student music, an alumni band performance, and many other opportunities to reconnect with your son or daughter and experience the rich academic, social and cultural community that is Pacific.

If you are ever on campus, please do not hesitate to stop by my office in Hand Hall and introduce yourself. Please feel free to call on me, or the wonderful staff in Student Life, if we can be of any assistance to you throughout the year. The Student Life staff plays a vital role in the personal growth, wellness, social and emotional development, academic achievement, and career success for each individual Pacific student. I am confident that we can be a good resource to you as well.

Best regards to each of you,

Elizabeth Griego, PhD
Vice President for Student Life
