Privacy of Education Records

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) protects the privacy of student education records, including academic records, billing and financial aid information, and disciplinary actions. A main provision of the law states that universities are not permitted to disclose education records in most circumstances without written permission from the student, even to the student’s parents.
Students who want their parents to have access to their records may complete a “Waiver of Privacy of Education Records” form, which is available in the Registrar’s Office. If you have questions about FERPA, please email us.
