Rochester offers both merit-based awards (scholarships awarded by the Office of Admissions, alumni, departments, and external groups) and need-based aid (grants, loans, and work study opportunities, for which eligibility is determined by the Financial Aid Office).

Merit scholarships are awarded based on the student’s application for admission, regardless of financial need. No additional application is needed to be considered for a merit scholarship. For strongest consideration, students should submit all of their admission application materials on time and take advantage of extra optional steps throughout the process, e.g. visiting campus or interviewing with an admissions representative. Merit scholarships range in amount from $2,000 per year to full tuition.
