The services provided by the staff of the Wellness Center are available to students free of charge. However there are times when students must be referred to other healthcare professionals in order to maintain or restore them to health. All full-time undergraduate students must have medical insurance that provides coverage in the state of Alabama.
Students can either show proof of their own health insurance OR be billed for health insurance coverage through an independent provider coordinated by Spring Hill College. The cost of the Spring Hill College health insurance plan is approximately $1,433.00 for the 2012-13 academic year. This amount will automatically be added to your Spring Hill College bill until you have completed an on-line waiver of this insurance coverage. The only way to waive this insurance coverage is to complete the on-line waiver form and to provide information regarding your personal insurance coverage. The ability to complete the on-line waiver will start on July 1, 2012 for the 2012-2013 academic year.
If you have not waived this insurance by SEPTEMBER 15th of EACH academic year of attendance, the current charge for the student health insurance, approximately $1,433.00 for 2012-13, will remain on your bill permanently and cannot be waived past this date, regardless of your own insurance coverage. We are currently reviewing proposals from student health plan providers. Information about the student health insurance plan and the waiver process will be available on the Wellness website on July 1, 2012.
