Dear Mustang Parents,
Welcome to the SMU family! A new academic year presents a great new beginning for you and your student. It is my hope that your student will fully experience this time - with all of its possibilities - and treasure it for a lifetime.
Smart, talented, scholarly, enthusiastic and dedicated are just a few of the adjectives that describe the SMU student body. The diversity of ideas, experiences and perspectives that each student brings contributes something special to this great university.
College is about discovering new things and exploring new paths, and your student will quickly find his or her place and feel at home here. Higher education research shows that students who get involved in the campus community are the most successful. Encourage your student to take advantage of all SMU has to offer, including:
• Getting to know faculty, classmates and staff across campus
• Participating in SMU's myriad student organizations, programs and activities
• Exploring learning opportunities inside and outside the classroom
• Finding their passion
