The Office of University Housing and

Residential Life is available to assist students and parents with a wide range of needs relevant to the students’ on-campus, residential experience. During the summer months our focus is on the procedures involved with processing all housing and meal plan requests for over 5,000 residential students. We take reasonable measures to ensure students’ preferences are considered with regard to the housing selection process.  To ensure requests are considered fairly, our office encourages you to review all of our department’s policies and procedures, especially adhering to deadline dates.

Due to limited availability, university policy only guarantees on-campus housing for incoming freshman, and current freshman returning to on-campus housing for sophomore year who submit housing deposits and complete the requirements of the housing selection process.

Housing Occupancy Extension Requests

All of the undergraduate residence halls are closed during vacation periods, with the exception of 1300 and the Edge complex. Only students permanently assigned to these residence halls may take advantage of the extension option, provided a Request for a Housing Occupancy Extension has been submitted by these deadlines:

  • Nov. 20, 2009 (Thanksgiving Break from Nov. 25–Nov. 29)
  • Dec. 4, 2009 (Winter Break from Dec. 19–Jan. 17)

Room Change Process

A student wishing to change rooms must complete a Room Change Application available prior to the room change period at the Office of University Housing & Residential Life and at the front desk/residential life office of each residence hall. Residents requesting a room change at a time other than the room change period are required to discuss the situation with their Resident Director.  The residential life staff will evaluate each situation on an individual basis and will take the appropriate steps to assist the student.

There are two room change periods during the academic year: two weeks after the start of fall semester and two weeks after the start of spring semester.
Fall 2009: Sept. 14, 2009 – Sept. 25, 2009
Spring 2010: Feb. 1, 2010 – Feb. 12, 2010
