Our e-newsletter, Parent Connection, highlights student accomplishments, campus resources and events, ways in which parents can support their student, and opportunities for parents to share their opinion. Parents are grateful to receive regular updates and information (especially because their students may not always pass this information along to them!). Response to the guide has been so good, we are looking at doing an admissions recruiting guide and the parent electronic newsletters with University Parent Media. I have heard from parents who read the articles, but most parents are using the guide for easy access to date and contact information. The guide has proven to be a critical tool for our campus in the process of getting information to parents.
University Parent Media provides a quality product that our parents and family members really use and enjoy. Our parents tell us that they keep a copy in their car for quick reference during visits to the campus. They like knowing about campus news and resources as well as dining, lodging and area attractions, through a publication designed just for them.
The parent guide has been an extremely useful resource for parents. During orientation I specifically refer to the area restaurant pages to show options for dinner.. I am proud to talk about the parent programs at IIT and I use the Parent Guide as tangible evidence to the success of our program. Parents feel like they belong to an institution organized enough to create a guide specifically for parents and we have more time to create welcoming programs for our families. IIT has a large international population so this guide has also been very useful in their transition.
