Assistant Director of Orientation for Parent Programs
Now that Mardi Gras season has given way to spring, it is time to begin thinking about the end of the semester and academic year at Tulane. The Office of Parent Programs has been receiving higher than usual call and e-mail inquiries about some end of year topics. So, we wanted to share what we know.
RESIDENCE HALLS: The halls close for students on Sunday, May 13, 2012 at 9:00 AM. This means that your student needs to be packed and ready to leave before that time. We always recommend that you make travel plans within 48 hours of your student's last final exam. For those graduating seniors, the halls will close at 9:00 AM on Sunday, May 20, 2012 to allow time after Commencement.
SUMMER STORAGE: Each Spring semester, the University works to compare storage company options, insurance certificates and customer service reviews to select the best partner for our students. When the list of University-approved storage companies is available, it will be posted on the University website. We usually have this information available by the end of March. To find it, please go to this website and type "summer storage" into the search bar. Once the list is posted, a link will be available from there.
OFF-CAMPUS HOUSING: The Off-campus Housing Office and Off-Campus Residents Association (student group) have provided very effective web resources for the search for apartments and houses in the Uptown New Orleans area. Please visit their website.
COMMENCEMENT 2012: If your student is graduating from Tulane University this May, we want to offer you congratulations! What an exciting time for your family. Please be sure to use our website to plan your trip to Commencement 2012. Pay special attention to the schedule, hotel and travel information, and parent link.
NOTE: The residence halls do not close for Spring Break at Tulane.
