“Every Season, Any Day!”

Settled among the rolling hills of the Old Connecticut Western Reserve and along the shores of the Ohio & Erie Canalway, the city of Akron is a place of rich heritage and cultural diversity.

Its unique location – the city is within 500 miles of half of the nation’s population – is reflected in the ethnicity, lifestyles and social diversity of its residents and visitors.

Due to its ample water access, many pioneering industrialists and businesses, including rubber mogul B.F. Goodrich, the Quaker Oats Company and Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, sought Akron out.

Today, the city continues to beckon entrepreneurs and to support technological change. Akron is considered one of the world’s leading polymer centers, and there are currently more than 150 Fortune 500 companies located in the area.

This thriving region wouldn’t be complete without its wealth of entertainment venues. Visitors can experience a variety of productions, films and concerts at area theaters. Fine dining, live entertainment, professional dance and world-class orchestras provide countless opportunities for cultural pursuits. And of course, there are myriad shopping venues to visit.

The area boasts more than seven malls and shopping locations, as well as numerous specialty shopping options. Among the area’s artisan and boutique shops, acclaimed Akron artist, Don Drumm’s studio and gallery offer visitors one-of-a-kind gifts for every occasion. Two additional favorites include the West Point Market with its array of imported grocery items and the Mustard Seed Market and Cafe’s special blend of organic and wholesome products.

Historically inspired entertainment venues abound in the Greater Akron area. Hale Farm & Village lets visitors experience life during the Civil War in a Western Reserve town, while Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens, the former estate of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company co-founder, F.A. Seiberling, brings visitors into the world of an elegant 1920s English Tudor-inspired mansion.

The sports scene is just as strong, with activities for every pursuit and season. Golfers, racing fans and outdoor enthusiasts alike will be satisfies with plenty of venues to enjoy their sport of choice. Our area also boasts Ohio’s only national park, the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

After just one visit, you’ll know the fun and adventure that can be experienced in Greater Akron!
