Message from Housing and Residential Life

The Housing and Residence Life Hall/Complex staff encourage all students to complete a roommate agreement with their roommates. A roommate agreement establishes the rules that each member of the room/apartment agrees to live by. Each roommate discusses such issues as: what are shared items within the apartment, what are quiet hours/visitation hours, what the temperature should be, and how much mess can be tolerated - among many other topics. Apartment roommates/suitemates should also establish a cleaning schedule for bathrooms and common areas. The roommate agreement is available at check-in and by contacting an RA or Residence Coordinator.

We recommend all students complete a roommate agreement within the first two weeks of classes; please discuss this issue with your student and remind them of its magnitude. Many roommate issues can be avoided if a roommate agreement is completed before a problem arises. If your student needs assistance facilitating the roommate agreement conversation with his/her roommate(s), please have your student contact their Resident Assistant or Residence Coordinator; RA's and RC's are more than happy to assist.
