Academic Integrity Policy at UCA

UCA’s Academic Integrity Policy – Board of Trustees Policy No. 709 – was developed by faculty, students, and administrators over a period of several years.

It reaffirms the university’s commitment to academic integrity, provides for consequences when academic integrity is violated, and defines due process rights for those who are alleged to have violated academic integrity.

The new policy was adopted by the UCA Board of Trustees to become effective in the fall semester 2010.

Key Provisions

Four key elements characterize the Academic Integrity Policy:

  • The policy identifies a positive context (“academic integrity”) for integrity violations.
  • The policy creates a formal mechanism for official allegations of academic dishonesty / misconduct in the context of an academic course.
  • The policy mandates that officially alleged violations of academic integrity in the context of an academic course become a part of the permanent student record.
  • The policy defines an appeals process with significant participation by faculty, staff, and students.

More Information

The university has created a new web site to support the Academic Integrity Policy:

In the site’s pages you can find a link to the text of the policy, information about violations of academic integrity and how to avoid such problems, a Frequently Asked Questions page, and an opportunity to ask your own questions.
