How Parents Can Help with Career Planning

We have a common goal – helping your student create career success!

How can you help? Partner with the UCI Career Center team to support your student. Career decision making takes time. It’s a process requiring constant coaching. Encourage your student to begin career exploration early. Suggest internships so they can test-drive career options and sort through their choices.

How can students find career resources and coaching? This generation of college students relies on experts for advice. UCI Career Center professionals are well trained to help your student achieve their career goals and are excellent sources for career exploration and decision making.

In addition, this generation feels close to their parents and desires their support and advice. Your student may give the impression they don’t need your advice, but they still depend on you for emotional support and they listen to your ideas. If they don’t currently want your advice, we can assist. Refer your student to us – the UCI Career Center.
