University of California Irvine Parent Guide
Residential Life
UC Irvine offers on-campus housing with personalized service from professional and student staff, and a variety of resources for a smooth transition to college.
Living on campus ensures easy access to classes, libraries, recreational facilities, campus clubs, and many other resources that help students make the most of their UCI experience.
Housing is guaranteed on campus for two years to all freshman who are single, under the age of 25, who are enrolled in the fall quarter, and who meet Housing and Admissions deadlines. Transfer students are guaranteed one year of housing in either on-campus apartments or Arroyo Vista theme houses.
In addition to university-owned housing, American Campus Communities operates two on-campus apartment communities (with a third opening in Fall 2010) offering furnished apartments and state-of-the-art amenities.
Safety and security are a top priority in all of our communities, and housing staff are available around the clock to maintain a safe and secure environment. All residential facilities are locked 24 hours a day, and emergency phones connecting to the UCI Police Department are located within each housing community and throughout the campus. UCI also provides a safety escort service for students who are traveling on foot at night.
Students who choose to live off campus can find assistance finding a place to live or a roommate. Housing Outreach Services provides access to local apartment pricing and computerized room/roommate listings for UCI students. For more information, visit Student Housing
