The Center for Service in Action (CSA) is a great place for UCI students to get involved! The CSA promotes volunteerism and the importance community service and experiential learning plays in students' education. Programs and services offered through the center encourage students to develop a sense of civic responsibility through meaningful and mutually beneficial service, and education about social concerns.

Whether students are seeking to become engaged in the community or interested in leadership projects, CSA has opportunities to fit a wide variety of interests. Throughout the year, the CSA provides venues for students to participate in co-curricular community service activities that allow them learn about community needs and, more importantly, how they can contribute their own skills by leveraging their educational resources. Pictured here during 2009 Alternative Spring Break are UCI student volunteers at Dorothy's Place Hospitality Center in Salinas, Calif.

Programs in the coming year include Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, MLK Day of Service and Alternative Winter and Spring Break. Through such programs, students learn about themselves, gain new leadership skills and make a positive impact in the community.

Visit the CSA web site to learn more about the upcoming community engagement projects and hear first hand from student participants as they share their experiences, www.volunteer.uci.edu.
