Housing FAQs
What should my student bring with them to campus?
Check the Housing Web site for specifics on ‘What to Bring', including information about micro-fridge rentals. More information at www.housing.uci.edu/whattobring.asp
What are the on-campus housing options?
Freshmen live primarily in traditional residence hall communities (each with dining commons), and continuing students choose between theme houses and on-campus apartments. Because of the large class size for fall 2011, some freshmen may be assigned to theme house and apartment communities on campus.
How are students assigned to a room/roommate?
Students indicate their room and roommate preferences with their housing contract, and they may request a specific person if they wish. Housing assignments are emailed to students in early September.
Where can I find my student's mailing address?
Go to the Parents and Visitors page on the Housing Web site to find mailing addresses for undergraduate housing communities, www.housing.uci.edu/parents/.
When are housing payments due?
Residence hall payments are due on the 15th of October, January, and April, and can be made online through your student's ZotBill. Arroyo Vista and Campus Village payments are due monthly on the 15th, September - May. More information at www.housing.uci.edu/payment.asp
Where do I go for information about my student's Housing charges, payments or other matters?
The Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regulates the release of student information, and Housing information will not be released to parents unless students have completed a release consent form. More information, www.housing.uci.edu/parents/.
How does my student secure their second year of guaranteed housing?
Incoming freshman who live on campus for their entire first year are guaranteed an offer of on-campus housing for their second year, and the application process begins in the fall quarter of their first year.
