Volunteer Parent Experts needed

Posted in

This summer UCI will host eight Student Parent Orientation Programs (SPOP) for new freshmen and their parents. During the Parent Orientation Day at each SPOP, there is a Panel of Experts. Anteater Parents: Are you enjoying the Parents e-News? Is the newsletter helping to keep you connected and informed?

We would like to know what's working for you - and what's not - so this month we're asking for a few minutes of your time to take a quick survey.

At the end of the survey is a comment box where you can tell us more, ask a question, send us your student's favorite recipe, or anything else you would like to share.

‘Good Evening UCI': online, offbeat

Like all good entrepreneurs, UC Irvine undergrads Logan Frick and Steve Scifo know an opportunity when they see it.

Noting the lack of any online video media covering the campus for students, they acted to fill the void. With a few friends, a $150 Flip camcorder and a MacBook computer, they created "Good Evening UCI," an energetic version of a news-variety show.

"We thought we'd do something fun and interactive," Frick says. "Something accessible and lighthearted," Scifo adds. "Not just all news. Students want to have fun and laugh."
