"Job Outlook: Hiring up 5.3 Percent for Class of 2010" - National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Job Outlook 2010 Spring Update.

Parents, did you know that your student's free access to the resources of the UCI Career Center ends at graduation?

The Career Center team helps all students - those with a plan and those who are still unsure. If your student is unsure about their job situation or future career plans, please encourage your student to come make an appointment with one of UCI Career Center's counselors for help.

Keen on Kindness

Last summer, UC Irvine senior Jasmine Fang traveled to the rural Dominican Republic province of Elías Piña to build latrines for residents and teach public hygiene. She learned something too: the value of community.

Evenings and weekends, families would gather to play basketball, jump rope or just socialize. Says Fang: "People in the Dominican Republic really appreciate togetherness. They don't stay indoors playing video games like we do here."

The experience led her to think about how she could engage her own community. Fang is taking the first step by sponsoring Kindness Month at UCI with funds from the XIV Dalai Lama Endowed Scholarship she received last year.

Summer support. This summer UCI will host eight Student Parent Orientation Programs (SPOP) for new freshmen and their parents. During the parent orientation day at each of these SPOPs, there is a Panel of Experts. The Office of the Dean of Students is seeking parents to participate on these panels and offer advice and insight to parents of new students.
