Housing, Living, Learning & Special Interest Communities

Housing Services works with the colleges to provide living learning communities in the residence halls. In these particular halls, residents share the same interests and in many cases class schedules. They are all enrolled in similar programs and often have the same majors.

Enginuity

Enginuity is a special interest housing option designed exclusively for first-year freshman students enrolled in the Bourns College of Engineering (COE). The hall will be part of a COE initiative known as an “Engineering Learning Community.” As such, learning and the development of close academic and social relationships will be fostered on this hall.

Proximity to COE, access to Residence Hall academic and social resources, as well as available mentoring by Engineering upperclassmen are elements included specifically to help Engineering students excel in their program. Enginuity is located in Aberdeen-Inverness, Lothian, and Pentland Hills Residence Halls and all rooms are same gender.

CNAS Scholars

CNAS Scholars is a housing option designed for first year students enrolled in the CNAS College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences Scholars Learning Community. The CNAS Freshman Scholars Learning Community Program is a year-long program for first-year CNAS students enrolling in Chemistry and Mathematics courses during their first quarter at UCR. Students attend these courses together as a small community, are placed into discussion groups with the same classmates, and, during the Fall quarter, participate as a community in a CNAS Freshmen Advising Seminar taught by a tenure-track faculty member. CNAS Scholars communities are located in Aberdeen-Inverness, Lothian, and Pentland Hills Residence Halls and all rooms are same gender.

CHASS Halls

Students assigned to live in the CHASS communites, will be provided social activities that will help them get to know other students in who are CHASS majors. Residents will be in a supportive environment surrounded by classmates who can identify and share the college experiences you are going through.

The CHASS communities offers an unparalleled environment for academic support, social maturation, personal growth and the transition to self-reliance. CHASS communities are located in Aberdeen-Inverness, Lothian, and Pentland Hills Residence Halls and all rooms are same gender.

Honors Hall

The Honors Hall is composed of students admitted to the University Honors Program (UHP) based on a separate application process. Students must apply to the University Honors Program to be considered for admission. Placement on an Honors Hall is open only to students who have been admitted to the University Honors Program.
