The mission of the Dean of Students Office is to create a culture of care for students, their families, faculty and staff by providing exemplary programs and services designed to enhance students’ academic and personal success.

The Dean of Students Office implements a variety of programs and services to assist and support students in achieving academic and personal success. The Office provides important educational and developmental opportunities, serves as student advocates, empowers students to be successful, and promotes students’ rights and responsibilities.

Disability Resource Center

The Disability Resource Center strives to provide quality services to students with physical, learning, sensory or psychological disabilities, to educate them about their legal rights and responsibilities so that they can make  informed decisions, and to foster a sense of empowerment so that they can engage in critical thinking and self-determination.

Medical Withdrawals

The Dean of Students Office has been authorized to handle requests for medical withdrawals after a student has withdrawn from a semester by the published deadline. A student who is withdrawing from the semester may request that the withdrawal be processed as a medical withdrawal. The student will be required to provide appropriate documentation in order for a medical withdrawal to occur.

New Student and Family Programs

New Student and Family Programs provide on-going programs that support new students and families in their transition to UF by:

  • Providing a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Connecting students to university resources and people.
  • Acquainting students with institutional expectations and values.
  • Promoting learning and discovery both inside and outside the classroom
  • Fostering pride in the Gator community

Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution

Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution is dedicated to encouraging responsible community conduct, educating the UF and Gainesville community, and implementing disciplinary action in situations where violations of the Student Conduct Code have occurred. When incidents happen, primarily on campus, and UF students are involved, our office is the main university entity that works with students to resolve disciplinary matters. We also ensure that students receive fair treatment in all hearings.  Through the disciplinary process, it is our aim to help students understand the impact their behavior has on the global community, and to assist them with making future decisions that lead to personal and professional success.
