Dear Parents,
I am honored and delighted that you and your student have chosen the University of Georgia, the nation’s oldest state chartered institution. As a parent, I know that this can be an exciting and challenging time for both you and your student. Our hope is that this book will be a resource for you the entire time your student is at UGA. The purpose of Orientation is to prepare your student for a successful beginning to the UGA experience. You are an important part of this process, and we appreciate your participation in the Orientation experience.
UGA is a place full of rich tradition dating back more than 225 years. Our students, faculty and staff are among the best and the brightest in the state of Georgia, and also in the nation. From the classroom to the concert hall, the athletic field to the computer lab, University of Georgia students and faculty are modeling success. In your student’s experience here at UGA, he or she will encounter Rhodes Scholars, Pulitzer Prize winners, Olympic medalists and faculty whose research is changing the way that we think and live.
