Advising

Academic advising is central to the mission of the College and is a key faculty responsibility. Students enjoy a close working relationship with their advisors, who help them make informed choices that maximize the benefits of a liberal arts education. First-year students are assigned advisors by the Dean of Studies; upper class advisors are chosen by the student. Students may request a change of advisor at any time through the Dean of Studies office.

International Programs and Off-Campus Studies

More than 60 percent of all Union students have an abroad experience in dozens of countries. Programs focus on creating innovative opportunities, many of which combine elements of entrepreneurship, research or community service with the chance for students to pursue their academic interests and individual passions. There are also formal exchanges, global partnerships, research trips, specialized terms in marine studies and national health systems, science and engineering programs and independent study. Three-week mini-terms, for one course credit, are offered during winter in various U.S. cities and countries from Argentina to New Zealand.

Student Support Services

This office provides students with disabilities equal opportunities to benefit from all services, programs and activities the College offers. Union is in compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act. The director of Student Support Services determines eligibility for services, authorizes appropriate academic accommodations, provides academic advising and counseling, helps faculty with disability issues and questions, and assists students with self-advocacy in locating additional resources on or off campus.
