Master of Science in Criminal Justice

The Department of Criminal Justice offers a Master of Science (MSCJ) degree with a major in Criminal Justice. The master’s degree is designed to prepare graduates of the program to provide leadership, critical thinking, and knowledge in the areas of criminological theory, program evaluation, and criminal justice administration. The curriculum provides for the development of skills in criminal justice planning, implementation, and evaluation to ensure that the management and administration of the criminal justice system is effective, efficient, and responsive to the needs of the community.

Master of Security Management for Executives

The Master of Security Management for Executives (MSME) is an innovative program developed in collaboration with leaders in security management. The goal of the program is to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to address the continuously changing security environment. The MSME is for individuals who have a vision of their future in the security industry and are able to demonstrate professional competency and commitment to their organizations and the community.

Master of Arts in Teaching

The Department of Urban Education began its Master of Arts in Teaching Program in the Summer of 2001. This program consists of 39 hours and may be completed in two years. Curriculum within the program is focused on education and inquiry in urban school sites. Students in the Masters of Arts in Teaching Program have the option of conducting and writing about a research study, writing a position paper, or writing a grant as a final project in the program.

ACP / MAT Elementary Education with EC-6 Generalist Certification

If you wish to major in elementary education and receive your certification and master’s degree at the same time.

ACP / MAT Elementary Bilingual Education with EC-6 Bilingual Generalist Certification

If you wish to major in bilingual education and receive your certification and a master’s degree at the same time.

ACP / MAT Elementary Education with 4-8 Generalist Certification

If you wish to major in 4-8 generalist education and receive your certification and a master’s degree at the same time.

ACP / MAT 8-12 Secondary Education with Certification

If you wish to major in secondary education and receive your certification and a master’s degree at the same time.

Master of Science in Professional Writing and Technical Communication

The Master of Science (MSPWTC) in Professional Writing and Technical Communication is established on the firm foundation of our well-established undergraduate program in Professional Writing. This MS program provides graduates with communication, design, and management skills based on the principles of rhetoric. Students gain publication and production skills, attain project management expertise, acquire an understanding of the ethical and global implications of professional communication, participate in research, conduct audience analyses and usability tests, and create websites and online help documents which address readers’ needs.
