RESIDENCE LIFE and STUDENT HOUSING
Moving into the Residence Halls is a busy time of the year! Here are a few things to consider as you begin to think about MOVE-IN on the UNM Main Campus.
- Our Move-in dates are Aug 17, 2010 thru Aug 22, 2010, 8am to 6pm.
- All students will Check-in at their assigned hall. (Exception: Laguna/DeVargas residents will check-in at Santa Clara Hall).
- You must park first and then Check-in.
- Once your student has checked in and received their room keys. You are free to move-in!
- We have assembled 75 University individuals and groups to help with your move-in process.

What should I bring?
- Bedding for an 80" extra-long twin bed (sheets, pillows, blankets)
- Towels, wash cloths, soap, shampoo, toothpaste
- Hangers, shoe rack, and shelf/drawer liners
- TV, CD player, radio, headphones
- Computer, printer cable, and perhaps a laptop lock
- Surge protected power strips
- Alarm clock, coffee maker
- Cell phone
- Pots & pans, dishes, cooking utensils, silverware and glasses
- Small cleaning equipment and supplies
* You can check out vacuum cleaners and brooms at your front desk
Optional Items
- Small refrigerators - no larger than hip-high. Microwaves must be less than 10amps, 800 watts, and no larger than 1.0 cubic feet for traditional halls and suites.
- Things to personalize your space: throw rugs, pillows, plants, posters
- Favorite snacks and drinks, from Ramen to Red Bull
What not to bring?
Our Residence Hall policies are intended to ensure a fun, but safe, environment. A few items are not permitted in the residence halls.
- Alcohol, alcohol containers (regardless of age)
- Illegal drugs
- Firearms, weapons, fireworks
- Gambling materials
- Incense, candles
- Beds, waterbeds
- Toasters (allowed in SRC & RVA apartments only)
- Pets (except fish in 10-gallon tanks or less)
