How exciting it was to get to meet many of you at the various activities and events during Family Weekend. Many of you traveled lots of miles to join us. I loved meeting our parents and families from Kansas, California, Colorado, New Hampshire, Oregon, Georgia, Texas, and from many towns in New Mexico. Thank you parents for being with us and your student(s)!

Fall semester ushers in a new season, a new group of students, and quite often, a pleasant breeze of change. UNM's Dean of Students G. Randy Boeglin is pleased to inform parents and families that the UNM Parent Relations Office and UNM Parent Association will now be units in the Dean of Students Office, the entity on campus that also oversees LOBO Orientation for incoming freshmen as well as the Family Connection orientation for parents and family members.

UNM mom organizes first Gallup Parent Club

UNM Mom Marilee Petranovich, grants coordinator at UNM-Gallup, is launching a Parent Club in the Gallup greater area. She is from Gallup but as the daughter of a Public Health Service dentist moved around the country during childhood.

Parents of teens invited to live and learn on campus

Parents of high school students have an opportunity to immerse themselves in a college experience through a new, free program launched in 2008 by UNM Parent Relations.

Parents or guardians of students entering 9th through 11th grade are invited to live and dine on campus and attend casual, informative sessions during the second annual “Parent Experience Program” Friday and Saturday, July 24-25.
