Must-Knows about Move-In

Unpublished

Move-in Day brings the campus community together to welcome new and returning students. Moving in to the residence halls, setting up rooms, attending workshops, meeting roommates, and saying goodbye to family make for quite an active day. To prepare for the big day, check out the "Moving In & Out > August Opening" section of the ResLife website. Here, you will find a list of things families and students should know about moving in to their residence hall.

  • Halls open for first-year students on August 28, 2009 throughout the day at staggered times. First-years can find the time assigned to their residential complex on the ResLife website at the link above. Returning students may return to campus on Sunday, August 30, 2009 beginning at 8:00 am.
  • All rooms contain a bed with an extra-long twin mattress, a wardrobe or closet, desk and desk chair, and dresser for each resident.
  • The first place students should go to check-in to their residence hall is the main desk.
  • The Welcome Crew is around on August 28th to help students move in! If you need directions or an extra hand to take belongings into the building, ask for help!
  • All vehicles need to have a parking pass bearing the arrival time assigned for the student's complex. Information on obtaining a parking pass will be included in the students' mid-August room assignment email.
  • Students will receive a Room Condition Report form upon checking into their complex. It is important for students to complete this form in detail.
  • Look for designated areas outside the residential complex to recycle flattened cardboard boxes-over 5 tons of corrugated cardboard was collected for recycling during last year's Move-In Day!
  • Once on campus students with a computer will need to register in order to use the campus network. After connecting the computer to the network, visit http://netreg.uvm.edu in a web browser to complete this process.

Lastly, it is important to note that, in general, ResLife cannot house any students prior to opening day. If students have exceptional circumstances that could warrant an early arrival, please contact Residential Life.
