Since the April 20 explosion, the Deep Horizon oil well about 50 miles off the Louisiana delta has been sending a non-stop river of crude oil in the Gulf of Mexico every day. So far, BP's efforts to stop the flow have been unsuccessful, but many pin their hopes entirely on relief wells expected to be operational in August.
