Student Health and Counseling Center
The mission of the Student Health and Counseling Center is to provide high quality care for the physical, emotional, and mental health care needs of students. This is accomplished by providing comprehensive intervention and preventive health education that influences positive life style choices. The staff works collaboratively with the university and surrounding community to promote holistic wellness, and believes that reinforced education and knowledge of preventive practices contributes to the achievement of academic and personal success.
Objectives:
- Provide high quality care for the physical, emotional, and mental health needs of students.
- Provide comprehensive and safe intervention to students with identified needs.
- Deliver preventive health education programs activities that will influence positive life style choices and support retention efforts.
- Foster collaborative work with the university and surrounding community.
- Encourage participation in community outreach activities that share the individual staff person’s time and talent.
Health & Counseling Services are available to registered students who pay student segregated fees. No appointment is necessary to be seen by the nurse. It is recommended to make an appointment for allergy injections, personal counseling, and doctor visit.
Counseling Services
Free personal counseling and referrals are available to all students. All services are provided by licensed professionals and comply with federal confidentiality laws. Issues addressed include, but are not limited to:

- Motivation/concentration issues
- Relationships
- Depression
- Sexuality
- Self esteem
- Grief
- Suicidal thoughts/plans
- Eating problems/Body image

Health Services
- Evaluation and treatment of minor illnesses and injuries
- Primary Medical care and referrals
- Selected gynecological services
- Dispensing antibiotics and selective over the counter medications
- Loan and fitting splints, crutches and wheelchairs
- Administer various health tests for: mono, pregnancy, strep throat, and urinalysis
- Administer vaccinations for tetanus and diphtheria, pertussis, meningitis, gardasil quadrivalent (HPV), hepatitis B and influenza (Flu)
