Student Activities assists students in finding a variety of ways to get involved on campus. But what does it truly mean to “get involved?”
Simply put “getting involved” is defined as an activity, usually outside the classroom, which enhances and contributes to student learning. Involvement on campus can take on many forms; such as joining a student organization, fraternity or sorority, partaking in an internship, playing a sport or researching with faculty.
While the primary reason for students to attend UW-Parkside is to obtain a good education, becoming involved in one or more of these activities provides invaluable tools and skills that will help make them successful in the “real world.”
By participating in out-of-classroom involvements, students become more well rounded individuals. They begin to develop essential skills such as leadership, time management, and networking. Additionally, by becoming involved on campus students begin to connect with the University and understand how valuable they are to the success of UW-Parkside.
