Student Center Office

The Student Center Office located on the second floor of the Beckes Student Union is the place to come and Get Involved.

The Student Center Office houses:

  • Dean of Students Office
  • Student Activities Office
  • Student Government Office
  • Campus Activities Board
  • Student Development Office for Activities, SVSP and Clubs & Organizations
  • Multicultural and International Student Affairs Office

The Student Center offers students opportunities to meet new people, develop leadership skills, and work with others who have similar interests. For many students, the office serves as a “home away from home” by providing students with a familiar atmosphere and open door policy to assist our students through the transitions of college life. Although we may not always have the answers to their questions, we are always willing to find the person(s) who can.

From Guest speakers to Open Mic Nights, there is something for everyone. Many events, rich in tradition include Family Weekend, the Hip Hop Summit, and our Student Leadership series. For more details, visit our website at viu.edu/studentservices.

Clubs & Organizations

Each semester the Student Center host a Club & Organization fair where students have the opportunity to meet other students and advisors from over 40 clubs and organizations on campus. It is important that students get involved in at least one club or organization. It is a great way to build their resume as well as to make new friends. It is proven that a connected student does better academically and socially. If your student is interested in something we don’t currently offer, encourage them to let us know. We’d love to help them start a new club!

Other ways to get involved include:

Student Government Association

Helping provide improvement of higher education within the University, the SGA Board creates a venue to promote diverse ideas, values, cultures, and experiences within the VU community.

Campus Activities Board

Students may apply to be on CAB in the Student Activities Office in Beckes Student Center. Interviews for CAB coordinator positions are held in the spring and fall each year. In addition, CAB is always looking for volunteers.

Student Ambassadors

Ambassadors are highly motivated, energetic student leaders. This is a wonderful student leadership opportunity and a great way to meet new people.
